I got to know Dr. Ahwal when I asked him if I could intern and observe what he does at his practice and like the nice man he is, he said yes and I started going there to get hours for dental school. Since I want to study to become a dentist myself, I am so glad I had the amazing opportunity to intern for this specific doctor. Interning for him, I noticed how honest and incredibly professional he is. If you have a problem with your teeth, he won't just tell you what you need, he will take pictures, show you and advise you on what to do. He never forces the patient into anything. He will give you options and help you brainstorm steps and give you best way to do the procedure. He makes it convenient for YOU, always. He is truly a very honest doctor and will talk you through what he is doing to your teeth while he's doing it. On top of that, I got to know the staff. They are so friendly and they always get to know you as a person, not just a patient, just like the doctor does.

I highly recommend going to see Dr. Ahwal, if you've ever had a bad dental experience he will for sure turn it around and make you feel like you are really taken care of.

I've had so many issue with my teeth ever since I was 10 years old and have been to over 6 dentists that have messed up my teeth but Dr.Ahwal was the first dentist that I have trusted in so many years and will forever go to his practice !

I first went to see him for a chipped front tooth as an emergency. They were able to squeeze me that same day and fix it so fast that ever since he has been my dentist! They are very professional and I love that he actually gives me options.Unlike other dentists that just go ahead and do what "They" think is best. He redid all the work the other dentists had done on my teeth the past 5 years and I am so grateful I decided to continue with him! I haven't had any issue with my teeth since he fixed them !!

I also get my dental cleanings through them twice a year. The Hyienist is extremely sweet and always gives me advice on how to take care of my teeth. You can't ask for a better staff , a cleaner practice or a greater dentist !! I would highly recommend Dr.Ahwal to anyone that needs an excellent dentist

Although you won't be waiting long because of the great punctuality of the office; the waiting area is still tastefully decorated to feel comfortable and homey. She has outstanding knowledge of the various dental insurance coverages and year after year, she stay on top of the latests developments, changes and improvements within those coverages. She provides a great service to the patients with her expertise in this area.

I trust Noella, I consider her an outstanding human being. I have known her for over 22 years as a dental patient at her office. "This office is great! Prior to Dr. Ahwal I have been going to another dentist in La Mesa for over 12 years, until he retired. I was skeptical about finding a new office but found this one through my insurance. Little did I know I would fall in love! His office is so clean, the hygienists are extremely friendly and the staff overall are fantastic. They are kind, patient and positive. Not only did I get a cleaning done but I even chose to get my four impacted wisdom teeth removed here. "I can't fathom my excitement for finding this dental office. I am 7 months pregnant and needed to find a place i was comfortable enough to get a cleaning. I was very nervous at my first appointment but Dr. Wade was very comforting and even made sure to put double aprons on me and did minimal xrays. He also explained everything in detail with what dental work I would need after I have the baby. Today was my appointment for my cleaning and I am beyond happy with the results and the care I received. Melissa was so sweet and took her time. The cleaning took a total of about 40 minutes. I have had cleanings where they took 10 min and said I was good. Melissa took her time and made sure she got everything. She was very kind and explained everything she was doing. Cleaning and polishing was done and she gave me 2 different toothpastes to try along with a tooth brush and I was good to go! No pain, no discomfort and excellent customer service! "This is absolutely, hands-down The place to go if you're looking for a new dentist! Dr. Ahwal and his team are so extremely kind and patient, and my results are beyond what could've been expected. I've got extreme dentophobia, have since I was a child, so it took pain to get me to the dentist...not anymore! I went in expecting to need a full set of dentures, my teeth had gotten so bad. The level of integrity Dr. Ahwal has is not something you'd expect from someone running a business, rather the type of integrity you'd expect from a friend. "Did I actually just say to my dentist that I look forward to seeing him??!! I literally just hung up the phone with him. He gave me a call to do a follow up on my recent visit. Did you catch that I said "him"? Dr Ahwal himself called me! I expected the hygienist, office manager or someone else in the office to call me. But for him to take the time to pick up the phone...that's unheard of. Such great service! But my true praise isn't just about his customer service. It's about his quality of work. Thus far, he's been amazing. From the way he explains and also makes you feel safe and comfortable. It's one that I don't ever really recall experiencing ever before with a dentist. His staff also is quite great. From Noella's service at the front desk to Lori his dental hygienist who was very professional and also comforting during my procedure. Both of them working on my teeth, they were so in sync. I left the office thinking I'd have a swollen cheek and would be in dire pain. But, nothing..I mean nothing like that happened. There was no pain or discomfort immediately or creeping up thereafter. It has now been two days since and I'm only taking the antibiotics. There hasn't been a need for the pain meds. Scheduling an appointment is a breeze with a very communicable receptionist team ensuring you get your reminders. (Noella is awesome!)
